Representatives of Local 798 BM/FST Charles Loftin (third from left) and Training Director Petey Graves (second from left) took part in the dedication of the above "Ribbon" built by the Mobile Building and Construction Trades Council to honor America's Soldiers. Many troops pass through the entrance of the Mobile Regional Airport when being deployed or returning home. John Palmore, an Army Reservist and Local Union member, said he welcomed the statue on the eve of his second deployment to Iraq. "It just means a lot to me, it being here and knowing that somebody cares about us, Palmore said. The dedication ceremony was held at the Airport and speakers included Mobile Mayor Samuel Jones and the Airport Executive Director Bay Haas who both thanked the Building Trade Unions for their hard work and thoughtful donation to the soldiers. Local 798 contributed both money and labor to the project including design, the installation on rebar (Charles Loftin), fabrication of the supporting structure (Petey Graves) and the erection.
